Main Task - Location Research

Locations we decided to use:

Dom’s house	Shot of a crowded area where lots of people fall down.	We chose this location rather than Weston Shopping Centre as a party scene would fit better in our trailer.
Lecture theatre	The scene where the scientist teaches the student about his inventions.	We chose this location because we needed a classroom-like setting without actually being a classroom. The room is quite large with lots of seats but will only have two people in it, showing that the scientist is lonely, conforming to horror stereotypes.
Drama studio 2	The inside of the laboratory.	We chose this location because we needed a dingy, decorationless setting for the scientist to invent things in.
Apex park	The scene where the student explains to his friend about the creature.	We chose this location because we needed a wide open area for the student character, to contrast the loneliness of the scientist’s laboratory, to show that he has more of a life than the scientist.
School grounds	Shot of student and friend jumping over gap (from beneath).	For this shot, we will place two boxes on the ground and place the camera between them, facing up, so it doesn’t matter what the surroundings are as we will not see them.
Apex park	Shot of student and friend circling.	We chose this location because we needed a wide open space, showing that they don’t know where the creature is.

Locations we decided not to use:

Weston Shopping centre	Shot of a crowded area where lots of people fall down.	We chose Dom’s house over this location as a party scene would fit better in our trailer. Also, it would be hard to organise this shot in a shopping centre with lots of members of public around, and we weren’t sure if we would have to obtain a permit for filming there.
Alleyway	Shot of student and friend jumping over gap (from beneath).	We decided not to use an alleyway for this shot because jumping across an alleyway could be potentially dangerous, so we decided to use two boxes instead.
